It’s on us: Housewarming gifts for new homeowners who were homeless
BBVA Compass is helping to add a fitting footnote — housewarming gifts — to the heartwarming story of some of Los Angeles' most at-risk residents getting homes of their own.
As part of BBVA Compass’ commitment to the communities it calls home, bank officials came to the construction site for Mosaic Gardens at Willowbrook and presented a check to LINC Housing, the nonprofit developing the community, to cover the cost of kitchen and bath essentials for the previously homeless individuals and families that will reside there.
“This is the most important work we do, helping to build brighter futures for some of the most vulnerable among us,” said BBVA Compass Greater Los Angeles and Orange County Market President Everett Orrick. “The issue of affordable housing is one of the most pressing we face, so we’re especially proud to support the work LINC Housing is doing.”

The bank also hosted a coffee break event for construction workers at the site, featuring a performance by up-and-coming country singer-songwriter and BBVA Compass brand ambassador Tyler Dial. Officials from TV Guide Magazine also were in attendance, hours before the Television Industry Advocacy Awards, which BBVA Compass also supported. The awards, which benefited The Creative Coalition, pay tribute to television industry leaders who use the power of their celebrity to advocate for social change.

“BBVA Compass is always looking for ways to give back and demonstrate good,” said BBVA Compass Chief Marketing and Digital Sales Officer Jennifer Dominiquini. “Both events helped us do that. LINC is making an immeasurable difference in the lives of the families who’ll be at Mosaic Gardens, and the TIAA awards allowed us to help celebrate those among us who’re using their platforms to both do good and inspire others.”
Eight stars from some of television's most-watched programs were honored at the TIAA awards, including Jill Soloway of "Transparent" for her efforts on behalf of the LGBTQ community and BBVA Compass brand ambassador and "Good Morning America" contributor Sandra Lee for her efforts on behalf of breast cancer awareness.
