Garanti BBVA earns a spot on CDP's 2024 A List for Climate Change and Water Security
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) recently recognized Garanti BBVA’s efforts in sustainable development by including the bank in its global ‘A’ List of its Climate Change and Water Security Programs.

CDP is one of the world’s largest environmental reporting platforms, and evaluates companies based on criteria such as risk and opportunity management, governance structure, targets and their achievement rates, assessing their performance in climate change and water management. Garanti BBVA received high scores for its disclosure, strategy and management of environment risks related to both climate change and water security.
Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten recently recalled that sustainable development is a key priority for the bank. The BBVA Turkish unit offers a variety of innovative financial products such as green bonds, sustainable loans and climate-friendly investment instruments to support both individual customers and corporate clients in their transition to a low-carbon economy. In fact, Garanti BBVA has been reporting to the CDP Climate Change Program since 2009, and to the CDP Water Program since 2015.
“Our commitment to tackling the climate crisis, transitioning to a low-carbon economy and promoting inclusive growth is part of a broader transformation vision that encompasses all our stakeholders,” he stressed, adding, “We are honored to be among the leading institutions promoting the private sector's sustainable transformation journey.”
The CEO also credited the bank’s team and business partners for this recognition, and emphasized that Garanti BBVA will continue to contribute to Türkiye’s transition. “We work for a sustainable future, with innovative practices that minimize the environmental impact of our own activities, while encouraging our customers to adopt more sustainable business models,” he concluded.
