Garanti BBVA goes biometric with its new Bonus Platinum Card
BBVA’s Turkish unit is launching another pioneering solution, the Bonus Platinum Biometric Card, allowing users to make payments in a secure manner by simply scanning their fingerprint. The innovative new card will be available shortly.
Users can make payments by simply placing the card near the contactless area of the POS terminal after setting up their fingerprint. They then put their finger on the sensor on their card to verify their fingerprint. The purchase will process in seconds with no need to enter a password unless users prefer to do so. Those interested in the multiple benefits of the Bonus Platinum Biometric Card can apply on Garanti BBVA online and mobile banking channels, the BonusFlaş app, at bank branches and by contacting the call center.
Garanti BBVA Deputy General Manager and Garanti BBVA Payment Systems (GÖSAŞ) Board Member Murat Çağrı Süzer explained that the bank’s goal is to make customers' lives easier through innovative products and services. Garanti has been a pioneer in the payment field, launching a variety of new solutions including Turkey's first chip and multi-brand credit card, the first transparent card, the first contactless credit card and the first environmentally friendly card.
“With the Bonus Platinum Biometric Card, customers can make secure payments quickly and easily by simply scanning their fingerprints. There is no need for them to have to remember their PINs or set up contactless limits. By harnessing the power of technology, we will continue to bring our customers innovative products and services that add value to their lives," he said.
Meanwhile the General Manager for Türkiye and Azerbaijan at Mastercard, Avşar Gürdal, stressed his appreciation for the long-standing collaboration with Garanti BBVA. For Mastercard, the top priority is to ensure payment security and streamline payment processes for cardholders in a user-friendly manner. “We have adopted biometric payment authentication as one of the cornerstones of our security infrastructure, as it is considered the global standard for secure verification,” Avşar Gürdal said, adding: “By investing in biometric solutions, we are not only addressing the evolving security challenges of the digital age, but also improving the payment experience, making it safer, faster and more convenient for everyone.”
