BBVA’s Onur Genç ranked the world’s most influential Turkish executive
The CEO of BBVA Group has again claimed the top spot in the bi-annual ‘Global 50 Turkish Leaders’ list by Türkiye’s leading financial magazine Capital. The publication has taken the pulse of the business world and shared valuable insights since 1993.
This exclusive league table spotlights Turkish leaders steering major global enterprises. CEO Onur Genç leads a banking group with a market cap of €53 billion. The list also features prominent executives such as Tufan Erginbilgiç, CEO of Rolls-Royce, and Çağlayan Arkan, Microsoft Industrial Metaverse Global Sales Leader. Notably, among the top 10 leaders this year, six are female top executives.
Reflecting on the global economic landscape, BBVA Group CEO Onur Genç said, “We closely monitor geopolitical developments, interest rates, inflation, and elections in key geographies. Although uncertainty persists, we anticipate robust global GDP growth of up to 3 percent in 2024.”
On the topic of BBVA's outlook for the year, Onur Genç foresees a gentler pace of growth, with particular strength expected in Mexico on the back of robust consumer behavior and active trade engagements with the U.S. and Canada. The CEO expresses optimism about BBVA's performance in Türkiye, underscoring its vast potential with a youthful and entrepreneurial society, strong trade connections with Europe and Asia, and a relatively low banking penetration.
The BBVA CEO went on to emphasize that the bank will continue to deliver on its strategy to finance customers who invest in decarbonization, AI and the cutting-edge technologies society requires.
