Today’s number is about… online sales
Spanish consumers obtain an average of 124 euros from online sales, according to an Ipsos report for eBay, which analyzed consumers’ new habits in the growing collaborative economy.

Spain surpassed the amount obtained by French consumers, who average 110 euros. However, they fell below the Italians, who average €135. On eBay, the French earn the most, with an average of €127.
The study shows that the number of people who believe in the sharing economy is on the rise. Data indicate that eight in ten consumers in the three countries would like to participate in some aspect of this new economic model, and they look to the online platforms to put it into practice.
The most common practice in the collaborative economy is buying and selling articles online. This is followed by sharing lodging and transportation. In terms of countries, France leads in the development of practices related to the collaborative economy, followed by Italy and Spain.
The study shows that earning extra money or saving money is the main reason more than half of surveyed Spanish, French and Italians gave for participating in online sales - but not the only one. Fostering responsible consumption, reusing articles and preserving the environment are just as important as the economic factor.
Furthermore, one in five survey respondents in Spain, France and Italy are interested in moving toward a model where online transactions do not have intermediaries - a trend that is starting to reach the market.
