The film "Cooking up a Tribute" is to take part in San Sebastián Festival

Cooking up a Tribute will take part in the 5th edition of the "Culinary Zinema: Cine and Gastronomy" section of the San Sebastián Festival. The film, produced by BBVA Contenidos, is the audiovisual testimony of the tour that took El Celler de Can Roca to the cities of Houston, Dallas, Mexico City, Monterrey, Bogotá and Lima in the Americas. The documentary also reflects the social commitment of the Roca brothers and their desire always to find the best ingredients in every geographical area and the small local producers who continue to make it possible.

Directed by Luis González and Andrea Gómez, the film follows the Roca brothers across the United States, Mexico, Colombia and Peru. Some 50,000 servings were prepared during the tour for more than 2,700 people. More than 200 ingredients and nearly 30 wines were used for each menu in each country. In addition, Jordi, Josep and Joan Roca trained over 7,000 catering students, of whom 13 were selected for training grants in the El Celler de Can Roca kitchen, recently named the best restaurant in the world. The first ten minutes of the film which will be exhibited in San Sebastián can be downloaded here.

Cooking up a Tribute was presented globally at the Berlin festival in February and won an ovation from the public. This time, the documentary is competing with other gastronomic films at the San Sebastián Festival. The winning film will receive a prize of €10,000. The jury has been chosen by the Tokyo Gohan Film Festival, which is working in partnership with the San Sebastián Festival on this section.

BBVA- El Celler de Can Roca Tour 2015

The 2015 BBVA-El Celler de Can Roca Tour begins on August 1 when about 40 team members from the best restaurant in the world will travel to Buenos Aires. There, 500 customers and guests of BBVA Francés will enjoy a unique menu in the restaurant La Rural. Next, the Catalonian cooks and their staff will travel to Miami (August 12-13, on the yacht SeaFair), Birmingham (August 18-19, local country club), Houston (August 24-26, Caracol restaurant) and Istanbul (August 31 to September 3, Salt Galata building).

For five weeks, over 2,500 BBVA customers and guests in each of these cities will enjoy a special menu that is different in each country as an homage to the local culture and gastronomy.

The three Roca brothers decided to spend the first half of the year traveling thousands of kilometers around Turkey, USA and Argentina to experience the local cuisine first-hand, drawing on their insight into the food they encounter in these three countries to create unique dishes.

During this second year of the tour a total of 100,000 servings will be served in 6 countries, while over 2014 and 2015 combined the brothers will have travelled 120,000 km, equivalent to circumnavigating the world 3 times. What's more, this year it is making the leap from America to Europe and Asia, following the inclusion of Turkey.

During their trips, BBVA Contenidos and the Roca brothers have completed the shooting of the second part of the film Cooking up a Tribute, which will focus on the experiences of the Catalan trio during their Turkish trip. The Turkish Way will travel with El Celler de Can Roca to Istanbul and show the local gastronomical culture.
