Türkiye’s Teachers Academy Foundation wins award in The Netherlands
NGO Aflatoun International presented the Teachers Academy Foundation (ÖRAV) the ‘Teacher Professional Development’ award for its social and financial leadership program ‘5 Pebbles,’ a project supported by Garanti BBVA. The awards ceremony took place at the 6th Global Social and Financial Skills Conference, in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Over 300 participants, representing more than 80 countries, attended the Aflatoun meeting in The Netherlands, where they were able to network, learn and be inspired by the advances in new teaching methodologies. Aflatoun is an international non-governmental organization that helps 30 million children in 102 countries acquire financial literacy and social entrepreneurship skills.
The ÖRAV’s ‘5 Pebbles’ initiative, which Garanti BBVA has supported since its inception, has reached more than 2,800 teachers and 60,000 students since 2016. It helps children develop a ‘can do’ attitude by encouraging them to find ways to manage money and resources, save money and find solutions to the problems around them. The program gets its name from a popular children's game in Türkiye.
For ÖRAV General Manager Arzu Atasoy, “In today's world, children and young people's development of social skills is as important as their academic knowledge. Children who adopt this positive attitude and problem-solving approach from an early age see their academic success increase."
