Sustainable Mobility

In 2025, 99 percent of BBVA’s global electricity consumption came from renewable sources, and the bank has set a new target to reach 100 percent shortly. Since 2019, the bank has reduced scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions¹ by 83 percent and cut per-employee electricity consumption by 22 percent, energy consumption by 19 percent, water consumption by 36 percent, paper consumption by 44 percent and net waste by 33 percent. Furthermore, environmentally certified floor space reached 62 percent, far surpassing the 45 percent target set in the Global Eco-efficiency Plan.

BBVA Consumer Finance continues making strides in its goal to promote sustainable transportation in Spain. Currently, one in ten sustainable vehicles financed by the bank is contracted through digital channels, underscoring the success of a service that combines advice, financing and a catalogue of ‘ECO’ and ‘CERO’ vehicles, sourced exclusively from official dealerships. The adoption of digital channels has surpassed initial expectations and confirms the growing interest among customers in solutions that facilitate the transition toward a more efficient mobility model.

In 2024, nearly 58,000 charging sessions were recorded at BBVA's corporate headquarters in Spain, consuming more than 700,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. As the equivalent of approximately 4.12 million kilometers driven with clean energy, this initiative avoided the use of an estimated 313,000 liters of gasoline.
