Garanti BBVA named "Best Private Bank for Sustainable Finance"
Garanti BBVA has been honored as Türkiye’s "Best Private Bank for Sustainable Finance" at the Global Sustainable Finance Awards, organized by The Digital Banker magazine, a globally trusted news, business intelligence, research and awards body, servicing the worldwide financial services sector.
The award reflects the bank's strong commitment to integrating sustainability into its strategic objectives. For more than 18 years, Garanti BBVA has led the charge toward sustainable business practices in Türkiye by tackling critical issues such as the climate crisis, energy resource challenges, and social inequalities.
BBVA’s Turkish franchise provides a wide range of sustainability-focused products, including initiatives related to gender equality, energy efficiency, financial literacy and education, and green social transformation. Implemented at the grassroots level, these projects strongly support green and social efforts.
In alignment with its goals, the bank revised its sustainable transformation financing target for the 2018 to 2025 period, raising it to 400 billion Turkish lira. By the close of 2023, Garanti BBVA had exceeded its performance expectations, aiming to offer TL 120 billion in sustainable financing for the year. The bank had already delivered over TL 85 billion in green and social financing within the first six months, surpassing half of its annual goal. The bank remains determined to maintain its leadership by providing further sustainable financing solutions for projects throughout Türkiye.
