"We, member companies of the Tent Partnership for Refugees, stand in solidarity with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. We are coming together to offer our support, including by providing for Ukrainians’ most immediate needs; speaking out for their rights; and – if they’re unable to return to their beloved homeland – helping them settle in the new places they will call home," the statement said.

The bank made a donation of 1 million euros specifically aimed at improving the living conditions of Ukrainian refugees, thus complying with the tenor of the statement. In addition, the bank has put in place free transfers from private customers to Ukraine and continues its donation campaign among employees and customers in Spain for initiatives launched by UNICEF, UNHCR, the Red Cross and Doctors of the World.

As a further gesture of solidarity with Ukraine, BBVA's flagship buildings in Madrid (the headquarters in La Vela and the BBVA Foundation) and BBVA's towers in Mexico City and Buenos Aires are lit up every night in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

The Tent Partnership for Refugees works with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other organizations on the ground to ensure that businesses respond effectively to the Ukrainian refugee crisis.

Tent is a global non-profit made up of a network of 200 companies that have worked together since 2016 to help integrate refugees with their host communities. BBVA has been a member of the alliance since June 2021 and is committed to supporting refugees and raising awareness of their situation.
