BBVA Compass Los Angeles CEO Stephen Flynn has been named one of the Most Influential Bankers by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
The outlet’s annual section, published since 2015, recognizes banking professionals in the area for their top lending services and client advisement. Flynn’s inclusion comes only after two years holding his current position leading the bank’s local commercial banking team.
The bank’s trajectory in Los Angeles is on the rise.
“The vast amount of work that Steve has done for BBVA Compass in such a big market with a small team cannot be understated,” said BBVA Compass California CEO Everett Orrick. “The results speak for themselves, and I’m proud that a leading business publication recognizes his efforts. The bank’s trajectory in Los Angeles is on the rise, thanks in no small part to Steve and his commitment to our growing client base.”

During Flynn’s time at the helm in Los Angeles, his team has grown exponentially, leading to an expanded portfolio, high-level sponsorships, and an uptick in community involvement. Flynn is active in local volunteerism, serving on the board of Town Hall Los Angeles, a speaker program that offers talks at breakfasts, lunches and other occasions exposing area teenagers to ideas and topics they wouldn’t have access to.
Employees are also actively involved in Step Up, whose mission is to propel “girls living or going to school in under-resourced communities to fulfill their potential by empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused, and ready to join the next generation of professional women.”
The Los Angeles Business Journal is an award-winning publication that examines the ways the market economy operates. The publication covers business-related stories and also conducts research for in-depth business and economic analysis.
Only a handful of bankers in the Los Angeles area, one of the biggest markets in the country, are honored in the Most Influential Lenders category. Flynn is one of only about 20 people in 2019 to be recognized.
