From soccer teams to rock stars, BBVA Francés has a leading sponsorship platform in Argentina
Fans of both Boca Juniors and River Plate, Argentina´s premier soccer teams, can see the BBVA Francés logo on the jerseys of their favorite players. Music lovers, meanwhile, will find the bank sponsors tours by stars of yesterday and today, from Iron Maiden to Katy Perry.
BBVA Francés’ has stamped its logo on the jerseys of Argentina’s two most popular soccer teams - and biggest rivals - Boca Juniors and River Plate. But that’s not all: the bank also sponsors Talleres, one of the top teams in Córdoba province, as well as some of the most popular domestic and international and artists performing in the country.
Artists such as Katy Perry, Guns & Roses, U2, Radiohead, Aerosmith, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony, Iron Maiden, Sting, A-ha, Joss Stone, R5, and Blur, have already occupied a stellar place in the FrancésGo Music Experience sponsorship program, which contributes to positioning the BBVA Francés brand across the country.
In 2017, FrancésGo Music Experience invited its customers to enjoy the year’s most successful show: Cirque du Soleil’s Séptimo Día, the entertainment company’s tribute to the legacy of Argentine rock legends Soda Stereo. The show set a new record for number of performances and drew in almost half a million spectators, counting both the shows at the Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires and a tour throughout Argentina.
Disney on Ice, during the winter holidays, and Sugar, a play that has also broken all attendance records in its category, were also two of the biggest hits of the year.
The FrancésGo Music Experience will close out the old year at the River Plate stadium with two concerts by Abel Pintos, one of Latin America’s most popular artists.
BBVA Francés has sponsored the concerts of many artists in Argentina, including Aerosmith.
Strategic sponsor
In January 2012, BBVA Francés signed a strategic alliance with Boca Juniors and River Plate, becoming the first bank in Argentina to act as strategic sponsor of the country’s two biggest teams. These alliances in the world of soccer have allowed BBVA Francés to start offering FrancésGo customers and fans of both teams, a set of unique benefits and experiences.
With the launch of the Xeneize and River cards, playing a match in the Bombonera or Monumental stadiums went from being a far-fetched dream to a more-than-likely prospect. Similarly, the Half-Field Goal Challenge and the Picture on the Field have become some of the most eagerly awaited moments for both teams’ fans.

In 2016, Talleres, one of the top soccer teams in the Cordoba province ibecame BBVA Frances’ third sponsored team. The Talleres card offered local fans access to the same range of benefits.
Also, the Xeneize, River and Talleres card customers enjoy a wide range of benefits, including access to early ticket and shirt sales, discounts on merchandise and apparel purchases, plus invitations to events, to their team’s training sessions or to the Xeneize and River museums.
BBVA Francés is an official sponsor of the main Argentine soccer teams: Boca, River and Talleres, teams that make the BBVA French Cup.
BBVA Francés Cup
In recent years, with matches like Boca vs. River and Talleres vs. Belgrano, the BBVA Francés Cup has risen as one of the most appealing and eagerly awaited sports events for customers and fans alike.
The chance to play a match during half-time in front of a packed stadium, or to take a picture from the field, stand next to a trophy or watch a game next to the players on the substitutes’ bench, all became a reality.
The level of media attention that Boca and River receive was summarized in a report by Audit Sport Latam. Boca and River together account for 61 per of the total time (including matches, pre-match shows, replays, news and other broadcasts) that TV stations devote to the top five teams in Argentine soccer– i.e. Boca, River, Lorenzo, Racing and Independiente.
This alliance between BBVA Francés, River, Boca and Talleres also yielded significant sporting achievements.
Since BBVA Francés first launched its sponsorship programs, River Plate has added some international trophies to an already impressive roster, winning Copa Libertadores de América in 2015 and Copa Sudamericana in 2014. It also won the South American Recopa and Suruga Bank Championship 2015. At home, River Plate won the First Division title in 2013/2014 and the Argentine Cup twice.
Boca Juniors won the 2015 and 2016/17 first division championships and the Copa Argentina in 2012 and 2015.
Talleres de Córdoba, 12 years after being relegated to the Argentine second division, managed to be promoted to the first division.
Within the framework of the Artists for Education Program, BBVA Francés has agreements with the Teatro Colón and the Municipality of San Isidro.

In the context of the Artists for Education Program, BBVA Francés has signed agreements with the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and with the Municipality of San Isidro.
Since 2011, in collaboration with Teatro Colón, BBVA Francés sponsors a successful educational tour entitled “From Colon to the Country,” taking attendees on a journey across the different regions of Argentina with master classes and free performances by the teachers of the Higher Institute of Arts of Teatro Colón (ISATC - Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón)
BBVA Francés has also sponsored the “San Isidro Jazz y Más” festival, organized by the municipality of San Isidro, since it started in 2011. Prominent artists of the national and international scene will participate in this festival, with performances in some of the city’s most emblematic locations, as well as in its bars and restaurants.
