The local bank’s firm commitment to implementing the highest industry standards in data center infrastructure, prioritizing data security, operational continuity, and high accessibility, played a key role in earning this certification.

Sharing his views on the matter, Garanti BBVA Technology General Manager Fatih Bektaşoğlu had the following words to say:

“Garanti BBVA’s status as a prominent player in the industry comes from 26 years of investing heavily in technology and operational excellence, along with the significant contributions of Garanti BBVA Technology, which operates like a technology factory. As a reflection of this, we are proud to renew our internationally recognized and highest-level Tier IV Gold – Operational Sustainability Certification, which is a testament to the maturity of our data center’s technical infrastructure.”

It is another feather in the belt for Garanti BBVA, as it shows that its data center meets the highest security standards, provides full redundancy across all infrastructure components, and ensures business continuity, enabling the bank to maintain the high quality of its banking IT operations. The data center also makes a telling contribution to the bank’s sustainability goals by ensuring high energy efficiency and reducing the environmental impact. As a bank, it believes that providing its customers with the best, uninterrupted, and supremely secure system 24/7 can only be achieved through a flawless infrastructure that meets the highest standards. With this in mind, it continues to invest heavily in technology.

About Tier IV Gold certification

The Uptime Institute Tier Certification of Operational Sustainability (TCOS) provides data center owners, operators, and managers with an assessment of priority initiatives and risks specific to data center operations, serving as a yardstick for effective and efficient operations. Established over 30 years ago by Uptime Institute, the Tier classification criteria for data centers are now recognized as international standards when it comes to data center performance worldwide.

A Tier IV data center is designed with multiple independent and physically isolated systems that serve as redundant capacity components and distribution paths. The separation of these systems is essential to prevent a single incident from compromising either of them. Tier IV facilities enhance Tier III topology by including fault tolerance, meaning that IT operations remain unaffected even if a piece of equipment fails or a distribution path is interrupted. To comply with this standard, all IT equipment must be supported by a fault-tolerant power design.
