BBVA receives the Bank Innovation award for its gamification platform, BBVA Game
The jury found that BBVA Game, as well as three projects from other operators, "went above and beyond to produce financial results and innovation". The awards recognize institutions that run outstanding projects in the field of finance.
BBVA, The Bancorp, Fidor Banco and SaverNation were the four winners of the 2013 Bank Innovation Awards. BBVA was awarded for its gamification strategy based on the BBVA game initiative, a platform that aims to incentivize customers to use the group's online services.
The jury emphasized that while the product may appear to be simply a "typical" game, in fact BBVA has created a virtual economy based on a points system, in which customers can win music downloads, films and tickets to BBVA La Liga football matches.
Using BBVA Game customers can make account inquiries, pay bills and taxes, and perform all kinds of transactions, as if they were operating via the bank's website. The players win points for each transaction.
In its first six months BBVA Game has attracted more than 100,000 players. "BBVA was a winner at the 2013 Bank Innovation Awards thanks to its audacious leap forward with BBVA Game", based on gamification strategy.
