The international magazine ‘Global Finance’ recently announced its annual Best Digital Bank Awards. This year, which marks the 20th anniversary of the awards, the media company named BBVA as the best digital bank in Spain for corporate and institutional clients.

Factors that influenced the publication’s decision in favor of BBVA include the bank’s implementation of new strategies to convert non-digital corporate clients into digital ones; the variety and success of its product and service portfolio; and the variety, design, and functionality of its digital channel catalog, ensuring the highest security standards. When evaluating the various candidates, ‘Global Finance’ weighed the opinions of analysts and executives in the financial sector, as well as experts in technology and digital transformation.

"This award demonstrates the good job our teams have done this past year at bringing innovation and transformation to our corporate clients. It is a recognition of our strategy; a strategy that demands we work alongside our clients, providing them both our unparalleled talent and the market’s best digital solutions that will simplify their day-to-day operations and help them grow. It is essential to remember that customers are the ones who choose how, where, and when they want to interact with the bank; we must react quickly and be where our customers are," said Luis Simoes, Head of BBVA's enterprise clients line of business in Spain.

This year, which marks the 20th anniversary of the awards, the media company named BBVA as the best digital bank in Spain for corporate and institutional clients.

Recognition of a successful year

In September 2018, BBVA created a digital transformation factory in order to advance its strategy of putting transformation to work for its corporate clients. The innovation center has contributed to the bank's ability to provide its clients more agile digital solutions in significantly reduced delivery times. The transformation factory has 300 professionals organized in autonomous, multi-disciplinary project teams covering areas such as risk, business, design, technology, and data science, among others.

Thanks to new work methods implemented by the team, BBVA has greatly improved the time to market of its solutions. In most cases, this has quadrupled the output compared to what was in operation three years ago, without overlooking client satisfaction. Some examples of solutions delivered by the new approach include One View, the first intelligent aggregator for businesses and AvalBox, an innovative solution that enables digital guarantee applications.

"Our traditional and proven banking expertise coupled with cutting-edge digital talent and innovative, more collaborative workspaces has resulted in a more efficient flow of data, and consequently even better results. An award of this caliber is a great honor for us and encourages us to continue serving our clients with solutions that help them make better decisions," said Oscar Velez, BBVA's head of corporate client transformation for Spain.
