Fan voting underway in business-plan contest by BBVA Compass, Houston Dynamo

The four finalists vying for the top prize of $10,000 in "The Pitch," the business-plan contest sponsored by BBVA Compass and Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo, are now up for voting by fans.

A team of judges from the bank and the Dynamo whittled down the 120 entries to the final four, and the fans will pick the ultimate winner by logging on to HoustonDynamo.com to cast their votes. The winner will be announced during the Dynamo match on Sunday, October 16, against the LA Galaxy.

The finalists are JC Sports, a toddler and youth indoor sports center; The Green Bone, an all-natural pet day care, boarding and spa service; Texas Redbird Remodeling, a residential remodeling company for anything around the home; and Bayou City Bike Tours, which encourages a more bike friendly community with fun and informative bike tours.

“All of the entrants put their hearts into their ideas and business plans,” said BBVA Compass Houston CEO Mark Montgomery, who served as a judge. “But I had a hunch we'd see that: BBVA Compass does a lot of work with small businesses in Houston, and we see plenty of innovators and strivers. It was a great competition and I'm looking forward to seeing which one the fans tap as the brightest idea so we can help push it to the next level."
