Four out of every ten BBVA affiliated merchants in Spain now use the Android PoS system

Around 40 percent of BBVA’s business customers in Spain have upgraded to the Android PoS terminal, which offers more functionalities than a traditional device. Its operation is intuitive and resembles that of a mobile phone. The main screen displays applications for business management and a payment option. Merchants can easily process returns and view their transaction history.

BBVA lanza en España una ‘app’ para que los comercios puedan fidelizar a sus clientes a través del TPV Android

A key advantage of the Android PoS over traditional terminals is the option to install various applications to aid business management. BBVA has developed and provided several tools through these devices to support SMEs in their digital transformation, streamlining processes and offering innovative solutions for business growth.

Popular applications include Smart Business Lite, qwhich helps create product catalogues, collect orders, and process payments efficiently. Paack Envíos, aids in scheduling and managing customer shipments. The Izicap loyalty plan enables businesses to create and manage their own loyalty programmes TAX Free, handles VAT reimbursement for non-EU customers. Paygold, qsimplifies remote sales by sending payment links via SMS or e-mail. TicketBAI, ensures invoice compliance with Basque regional tax regulations.

This terminal accommodates a wide range of payment methods, accepting chip cards, contactless and magnetic stripe payments, NFC payments from mobile phones, and QR code payments from WeChat Pay and Alipay. Merchants can also accept payments from major card providers, offering customers expanded payment options. For new customers, BBVA offers special promotions, including the first 12 months free.

Customer loyalty

One of BBVA's recent innovations is a loyalty program for retail customers using the Android PoS. Physical stores employing the Free Analytics service, which collects data on customer purchasing behaviour at the PoS, can implement the 'Loyalty' service. This programme requires only the payment card to operate.

An Android PoS is required to capture the mobile phone details of customers who wish to join the loyalty program and identify them at each payment. There are two variants: the 'Base' version, which is free for the first 12 months, and the 'Pro' version, which includes additional features. Both versions offer a simple and intuitive tool for conducting basic loyalty campaigns and assessing their impact and effectiveness.
