El Celler de Can Roca remains on the podium of world cuisine
El Celler de Can Roca remains on the podium of the prestigious ranking published by British magazine Restaurant. Joan and Jordi Roca celebrated the award in Melbourne, where the The World’s 50 Best 2017 award ceremony was held. This acknowledgement comes a few weeks before the Roca brothers embark on the BBVA Tour across Spain, to pay homage to the country’s different regional cuisines.
The Roca brothers’ restaurant was ranked third in British magazine Restaurant’s list of best restaruants in the world. Joan and Jordi Roca attended the ceremony held in Melbourne and celebrated with their colleagues this great achievement for Spanish cuisine. Osteria Francescana de Módena, second, and Eleven Madison Park in New York, first for the first time ever, rounded out the podium.
El Celler de Can Roca, second last year, has been ranked among the top-5 best restaurants in the world since 2009. The restaurant was named the best in the world for the first time in 2013, and took the top spot again in 2015. Last year, El Celler de Can Roca was named second best restaurant in the world, behind Osteria Francescana, run by Italian chef Massimo Bottura.

Also, El Celler de Can Roca was distinguished with the Ferrari Trento Art Of Hospitality Award, as the friendliest and most welcoming restaurant in the world.
The World’s 50 Best is considered the Oscars of fine dining. The ranking is built based on votes from chefs, restaurateurs, food/restaurant journalists and well-travelled gourmets from different regions of the world.
The BBVA Tour of the world’s best
In a matter of weeks, Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca, accompanied by their Girona team, will embark on this year’s BBVA Tour, which will travel across different Spanish regions in 2017 and 2018. On April 24, Bilbao will welcome El Celler de Can Roca in a series of conferences and events culminating with a dinner for BBVA customers. Sevilla and Valencia will be the next stops of this tour, conceived with the idea of paying homage to the different regional gastronomies of the country.
As in previous tours, several culinary students will have the opportunity to work with the team at El Celler de Can Roca. In each one of the four cities they visit, Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca will choose three students that will be invited to complete a 4-month internship in Girona.
