Eighty-seven entrepreneurs selected to participate in BBVA Momentum 2017
A total of 87 entrepreneurs from five countries have been selected to participate in BBVA Momentum 2017, the most global edition of BBVA’s program of social entrepreneurship. The selection was made from among a total of more than 700 candidates from Spain, Mexico, the United States, Colombia and Turkey.
The companies have been selected using a common denominator: their high social impact and their commitment to sustainability. The majority (40%) carry out their activity in the area of social exclusion and education; another 18% act in improving the environment; 15% are dedicated to digital solutions; and another 15% to initiatives related to health. The rest operate in different sectors.
Juries of local and global experts were charged with selecting the 87 entrepreneurs from among the more than 700 that signed up to participate in this sixth edition of BBVA Momentum (www.momentum.bbva.com).
In the selection, priority was given to four fundamental factors: social inclusion, growth, innovation and sustainability. All of the entrepreneurs that participated in the process were given the opportunity to attend workshops organized in each country, have had an in-depth interview, and have received a training session about the functioning of BBVA Momentum 2017.
Antoni Ballabriga: “The selection process has been a real challenge, because of the large number of candidates and above all, the high quality of the projects
“The selection process has been a real challenge, because of the large number of candidates and above all, the high quality of the projects presented in this edition” said Antoni Ballabriga, BBVA’s global director of Responsible Business.
Global impact
This edition of BBVA Momentum is the most global one and is full of novelties. Five countries are participating for the first time: Spain, Mexico, the United States, Colombia and Turkey. The entrepreneurs selected receive complete information, both online and in person; this began in June and will last seven months. They will also have a strategic accompaniment from the mentors in the program, who will support them in designing their growth plan. In addition, they will receive advice from specialists in different disciplines. The BBVA Momentum program will also serve as a bridge between entrepreneurs and the investors who are interested in financing their projects.
The 86 finalist candidates of BBVA Momentum 2017 now begin a period filled with work, hopes and many challenges; a unique experience of learning and growth.
