BBVA moves past 420,000 customers in Italy, targets 600,000 for 2024
BBVA has achieved a milestone in Italy, surpassing 420,000 customers in February 2024, exceeding its initial target. The bank had a record year in 2023, attracting 220,000 new customers, thanks to a highly attractive range of products and services. As a result, BBVA has set a new target for this year of 600,000 customers. If successful, it will have achieved its original goal two years ahead of schedule.
In the words of Javier Lipúzcoa, Head of Digital Banking at BBVA Italy, “We closed 2023 with outstanding results, exceeding all expectations. We’re fully confident that 2024 will be a year of further growth and consolidation as we aim to become the bank of choice for Italians.”
BBVA’s success in Italy is driven by its unique value proposition. More and more customers are switching to BBVA because of its differential range of products and services, which are fully digital and personalized. The bank combines the best of both worlds: a seamless digital experience with tailored services.
BBVA also happens to offer 24/7 customer support, running all year round, and an intuitive and user-friendly mobile app, allowing customers to manage their finances wherever and whenever they need. In recognition of its performance and extensive range of products and services, BBVA was named one of Italy’s top five banks by both Forbes and Statista in 2023.
Since its launch in Italy in 2021, BBVA has focused on providing digital banking products with no fees for everyday banking, such as accounts and cards, alongside interest-bearing current accounts. The bank has also been working hard to expand its range of financing, savings, and investment products, many of which are available for mobile banking. In 2023, BBVA reached €2.5 billion in customer funds, offering innovative products such as the “Conto Zero Spese per Sempre” account and “Deposito Flessibile” deposit.
Additionally, BBVA has made investment opportunities more accessible, with around 300 investment funds available as of November 2023, available on both the website and the app. These funds, including various sustainable options, are available without arrangement, management, or cancellation fees. BBVA’s Quality Funds team selects these funds from leading international asset managers.
In 2024, BBVA plans to further expand its range of products and services with new launches throughout the year.
