Sector specialization as a competitive advantage for BBVA CIB

This strategy has driven BBVA CIB to deepen the specialization of its services and solidify its position as an industry expert in sectors that, due to their unique challenges, require targeted attention and in-depth knowledge. The new approach allows the bank to support clients more effectively and enhance the quality of strategic conversations—addressing core business needs with greater precision.

As part of this initiative, BBVA CIB has appointed global sector heads in industries identified as priorities due to their influence on current sustainability trends in both corporate and institutional spheres. For corporate clients, BBVA CIB has defined five key sectors: consumer, retail & healthcare; energy; industry & transportation; infrastructure & construction; and technology, media & telecommunications (TMT). On the institutional side, the bank focuses on banks, asset and wealth managers, insurance companies, public sector entities, sovereign wealth funds, and financial sponsors.

In this regard, Juan Blasco, Head of Institutional Business at BBVA CIB, explains, “sector specialization is a key element of our value proposition for institutional and corporate clients, allowing us to deliver better service in today's challenging environment.
