BBVA is to donate €31.89 million for the people affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye. BBVA has also launched a series of campaigns to collect contributions from employees and customers.

The British magazine Euromoney has named BBVA the best bank in corporate social responsibility in Western Europe in 2021. The financial publication recognized BBVA's commitment to improving social, economic and environmental conditions in the region and the bank's swift response to the Covid-19 crisis.  The Group was also recognized as the best bank in Mexico.

In honor of Financial Literacy Month, we’re recognizing four incredible BBVA USA employees who in total contributed more than 350 hours to helping customers work toward their goals of achieving financial freedom, home ownership, and more in 2020.

The ongoing pandemic has taught us many things about ourselves, perhaps most significantly, what is most valuable and important to us. Even more, all this downtime has given us the chance to reflect on how we can direct our time and effort toward those things. That’s why BBVA spent the early part of 2020 converting its in-person financial education program to deliver virtual classes.

As part of its ongoing commitment to financial education, BBVA USA hosted its third annual Financial Education Forum, a virtual event designed to provide insight on the state of financial health in the U.S. This year’s event featured a presentation of Financial Health Pulse 2020 U.S. Trends, which provides an ongoing snapshot of the financial lives of people in America.

As Central Alabama deals with the aftermath of 11 confirmed tornados on March 25, BBVA USA has announced it will donate $25,000 toward community relief efforts through the BBVA Foundation. The tornado recovery grant will support the United Way of Central Alabama.

As Texas deals with Winter Storm Uri and its ripple effects, BBVA USA has announced it will donate a total of $250,000 toward community relief efforts through the BBVA Foundation, and has begun offering customer assistance in the form of payment deferrals and fee waivers, among other items.

BBVA has updated its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy with several new additions following the recommendations of Spain’s financial market regulator, the CNMV, and the bank’s growing commitment to its role in sustainable banking.  Furthermore, BBVA’s Board of Directors also approved the General Policy on Sustainability, which defines and establishes the general principles, main objectives and guidelines for the management and control of the Group in terms of sustainable development, with the aim of striking a balance among economic development, social development and environmental protection.
