Class is back in session at Fintech University
Some of the best-known names working on finance’s new frontiers come together this Monday in one of technology’s most important cities for the second edition of Fintech University.
The one-day gathering at San Francisco’s Bently Reserve is hosted by BBVA’s Open Innovation team, and features fintech entrepreneurs from around the globe. There will be keynote addresses, panels, workshops, fireside chats and more, where they’ll share their insights on the transformation of banking. The goal is to foster learning and interaction between seasoned entrepreneurs and early-stage startups.
“We’re interested in nurturing the fintech ecosystem, knowing that today’s startup may be tomorrow’s next great idea in financial services."
“We’re interested in nurturing the fintech ecosystem, knowing that today’s startup may be tomorrow’s next great idea in financial services,” said Shamir Karkal, head of Open APIs for BBVA, co-founder of Simple and the driving force behind Fintech University. “Fintech University provides a place for the people behind those ideas to come and hear from some of the best entrepreneurs in the industry — those who have made it — so they can better understand the obstacles and key issues facing fintech.”
Some of the hottest topics in fintech will be discussed at the second edition of Fintech University, including payments, lending, Know Your Customer (KYC) and authentication, and regulation. Fintech luminaries such as Socure’s Johnny Ayers, Prosper’s Ron Suber and Coinbase’s Fred Ehrsam will be leading and participating in the discussions.
“We’ve definitely stacked the deck with our speaker lineup,” Karkal said. “We’re serious about this event being a good and valuable learning experience for those who spend one of their most precious commodities on it — which is their time, of course.”
