Carlos Torres Vila is re-elected to BBVA Board, with 98 percent of the votes
BBVA Chair Carlos Torres Vila was re-elected as a Board member with 98 percent of the votes at the Annual General Meeting, held on Friday in Bilbao. The Group’s CEO Onur Genç was also re-elected with 99 percent of the votes. The AGM was held under a mixed format (remote and onsite), with a quorum of 65 percent.
BBVA shareholders have largely backed the appointment of Connie Hedegaard Koksbang as a board member, which increases the number of female board members from five to six, of a total of 15 members, allowing the bank to reach its goal of having at least 40 percent of women before the end of 2022.
The AGM approved with 99 percent of the votes a (gross) cash payment dividend of €0.23 per share. This payout, expected for April 8, 2022, is in addition to €0.08 paid by the bank on October 12, 2021. This represents a total distribution of €0.31 for fiscal year 2021, the highest cash dividend per share of the past ten years, and a payout of 43 percent.
Furthermore, the AGM approved the annual accounts for fiscal year 2021, with 99 percent of the votes and the corporate management during the same period, which received 99 percent of the votes.
