BBVA to donate €4 million for those affected by the DANA
BBVA is to donate €4 million to the Spanish Red Cross to help those affected by the DANA in Spain. This donation will be aimed, initially, at covering the most immediate needs and subsequently at contributing to the recovery of the thousands of people who have been affected. This initiative is in addition to a series of emergency measures implemented by BBVA last week, including a donation campaign among customers and employees via Bizum, which has raised over €3 million to date.
The resources from the BBVA donation will be used to help in the rescue and assistance of those people affected by the DANA, as well as recovery efforts related to housing. These actions will be carried out by the Immediate Emergency Response Teams (ERIE), who work for the Spanish Red Cross in its territorial delegations, mainly in Valencia and Albacete.
The Spanish Red Cross will later work on the relocation of these people and will offer help with their needs in this initial stage of the emergency, such as economic and social resources to rebuild their homes, psychological support for their families and assistance for school-aged children through educational materials, extracurricular support and leisure activities to help overcome any possible trauma and its aftereffects.
This donation is part of an emergency aid plan implemented by BBVA last week for those affected by the severe floods. One of those initiatives was the implementation of a donation campaign with Bizum in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross. Those interested in participating in this campaign can do so through Bizum (if in Spain), selecting ‘Donate to a charitable cause’ and using the code 33467 and the amount they wish to contribute. Donations can also be made via deposit or a bank transfer to the Spanish Red Cross’ bank account: ES92 0182 2370 4600 1002 2227.
This initiative has so far raised more than €3 million. These funds will be used in rescue efforts and the management of provisional shelters and to help those affected so they can get back to normal with their lives.
