BBVA named a Top Employer 2023 in Spain
The bank received the prestigious certification thanks to its employee management strategy and policies. The Top Employer seal is a sign of the organizations’ commitment to bring about better work environments through excellence in their workforce practices and policies.
“We have come from several very complex years that have posed major challenges for all companies in terms of employee management. But one thing that has not changed for BBVA is that one of our strategic priorities is still to have the best, most committed team,” explained Carlos Casas, Global Head of Talent and Culture at BBVA. “The Top Employer certification confirms that we are one of the companies that does the most to take care of our employees, recognizes our human resources strategy and makes us a leading company for people management,” he added.
In the past year, BBVA has evolved its work model with the introduction of a definitive remote work model. The bank was one of the first large corporations to establish a hybrid, flexible model before the end of the health state of emergency. In December, the bank announced raises for its workforce in Spain, which represented an improvement over the banking agreement.
In the professional development field, BBVA has improved professional growth processes, reinforcing the high performance culture. Some of the initiatives put in place in 2022 include training plans related to strategic capabilities (sustainability, financial health, cybersecurity, data, etc.), the goal of reaching 35 percent women in management positions by 2024, and the expansion of health and emotional well-being programs.
Leading companies in people management
The program run by Top Employers Institute certifies leading organizations in terms of people practices, based on participation in a strict survey analyzing an array of fields such as strategy, work environment, recruitment, training, well-being, and diversity among other issues, and its results.
“Adapting to the challenges and demands this year, and last year, have impacted organizations around the world. BBVA has continued to demonstrate that it prioritizes the implementation of excellent people practices in the workplace,” said David Plink, CEO of Top Employers Institute. For the CEO, “Top Employer companies continue to face challenges posed by a constantly changing working world, while they work tirelessly to have a positive impact on the lives of their employees. We are pleased to celebrate and applaud the organizations that were certified as Top Employers in their respective countries this year.”
