BBVA Compass, Birmingham Legion FC strike marketing deal

Birmingham Legion FC announced today a multi-year partnership with BBVA Compass, extending the banking giant marketing rights across Legion FC platforms and in-stadium at BBVA Compass Field on the campus of the University of Alabama-Birmingham. The partnership will also aim to create opportunities for Birmingham’s communities.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to work so closely with BBVA Compass,” said Legion FC President and General Manager Jay Heaps. “They are a great example of local corporate commitment and we’re proud to be their partner.”

“Our business-driven partnership with Birmingham Legion FC will aim to create opportunities not only for the sports fans in this market, but for our communities,” said BBVA Compass Birmingham CEO Andrea Smith. “When we gifted UAB the funds to help bring of BBVA Compass Field to their campus, we envisioned multiple opportunities would blossom. In 2014, BBVA Compass announced a $1.5 million gift in November 2014 to help with the construction of the stadium. Earlier this fall, the bank brought the BBVA Compass Iron City Showdown to Birmingham, strengthening its efforts to showcase Birmingham as a sports and events city to help continue economic growth.

“This new partnership continues our goal of adding growth to this area through sports and special events,” continued Smith.

Elements of the new partnership between the bank and Legion F.C. will extend from matchday activation for Legion FC home dates at BBVA Compass Field to philanthropic events to digital and social media promotions.
